Numbers in Text

Writing out numbers from one to nine in words and using numerals for all other numbers. If a number falls at the beginning of a sentence, it should be written out in words.

In a situation where abbreviations are used, use numerals, not number words, with the abbreviations. For example, 5 mL instead of “five mL”; 100 mL instead of “one hundred mL”.

In the case of all data, use one digit after a period. The exception is in the case of statistical data like p<0.05.

Abbreviations

Define commonly used abbreviations upon the first appearance in the text both in the Abstract and the rest of the manuscript (e.g., Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.

The use of abbreviation(s) within the text must be minimal. It is better to avoid it.

Write in full both in the title of the manuscript, abstract, and at the first mention of that manuscript in the introduction or other section of the manuscript. In the case of thesis work, the authors will be limited to the student, supervisor, and co-supervisor (only three). The author name of other(s) may be included in the acknowledement.
  • The recent trend is to write many authors names during submission of the manuscript in comparison to the bulk of research works (authorship abuse).
  • No author name will be added after the manuscript is accepted. Instead, you can delete the author’s name.
  • A study published in the British Medical Journal shows that 21% are inappropriate authorship (Gift authorship or Ghost authorship)

PUBLISH ARTICLE

Timing to publish means the duration from submission of manuscript to online availability. It is about 90 days. Bangladesh Journal of Pharmacology is committed to give rapid editorial decision and publication. To achieve the goal, an efficient editorial process is a valuable service both to our authors and to the scientific community as a whole. Therefore, we request the reviewers to respond promptly within three days to agree to do the review process. If a reviewer does not agree/respond to review a manuscript, then we request another reviewer. Once a reviewer agrees to review, the maximum allocated time of review is 3 weeks. A soft reminder email is sent to the reviewer when the allocated time is over. This process performs well. A revised manuscript needs to send to the reviewers several times.
